How does counselling help?
Counselling is a personal journey entered into with either a trained volunteer or paid counsellor. It is process that can help you begin to understand and manage painful and difficult feelings that may affect your life and the relationships you have with others. Talking with and working through these issues with a counsellor can support you to grow, develop and find ways of coping with the difficulties you are facing.
Confidentiality
The counselling service is confidential and any information that can identify you will remain within Youthreach Ltd. However, there may be times when we need to break confidentiality in situations where you or someone else is at risk of immediate harm and unable to protect themselves. This is explain in more detail in the confidentiality section.
What do I need to do to see a Counsellor for?
If you are interested in counselling you can contact us on 020 8269 2200. We will take down some details and arrange a first appointment for you, a trained counsellor will spend the 50 minute session getting to know you better and working with you to identify what sort of things you want to explore in counselling. After this we will get in touch with you once we have matched you with a counsellor. Counselling can last for up to 52 weeks.
Where will I go?
We offer counselling in the Blackheath Centre, Eltham and several school settings.
How long does Counselling last?
At your first meeting you and a counsellor can talk about your needs and requirements for further counselling. Some people find that one session is enough whilst some choose to see their counsellor for a longer time.
How much will it cost?
Nothing - the service is free
